ecig questions

Q: What is the best coil build for a beginner?
A: It depends on a lot of different things including the device you are using, whether you want big clouds or more flavor, what type of battery you are using, etc. A good build to start with is generally 6 wraps around a 2.4mm (3/32) mini screwdriver. If you are trying to build dual coils simply make two of them.
Q: My wick looks like it’s full of juice but I am getting dry hits. Why is this?
A: It’s very possible that you used too much cotton in your build. Generally, what looks like the right amount of cotton is too much. Cotton expands when it get wet so you want your wick to be able to easily slide through your coil. When it gets wet it will expand and you will be pleased with the result.
Q: Im wondering whats the difference between the DNA 40, and the DNA 30?
A: The DNA 40 is the 40 watt version of the DNA 30 which is 30 watts, The DNA 40 also has temperature control with the use of nickel wire. The DNA 40 also has reverse polarity protection not found on the DNS 30.
Q: I am wondering for basic non sub ohm dripping if the MVP 20w would be enough for general use.
A: For a long while 15w was more than enough for me. Didn’t use drippers though. Then I vaped mechanicals at around 20w, and that was great. Now I’ve used higher wattage regulated mods for a while, around 25-28w with RTAs and up to 45w with RDAs. 20w should be just fine.
Q: Looking to buy a new mod. Just purchased the Dark Horse atty, and I want something that will produce KILLER clouds. I’m currently eyeballing the Praxis, any thoughts?
A: You can chase clouds with just about any mod so long as you know what you’re doing and you’ve done your homework. Good batteries are key. I’m certain the praxis will work just as well as any other authentic mechanical mod ever made. With a controlled device, you’ll get the exact same vape with each set of  batteries you throw in the device and you will know exactly when your batts need to be charged. With a mech, a fresh battery kicks a lot harder than one you’ve been vaping on for a bit and there’s no indication when you’ve worked the battery down TOO far.
Q: How long do atomizers last?
A: The lifespan of an atomizer can range anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks (on average), depending on the frequency and duration of use. In most cases, atomizer failure happens gradually –starting with a gurgling noise and progressing to flavor loss and general unresponsiveness.
Q: What is PG or Propylene Glycol?
A: Propylene Glycol is used as a flavoring carrier in food products, as an ingredient in food coloring and also used as an additive in various medicines. A combined base of PG/VG blend is much more smooth then 100% PG base. Propylene Glycol is non toxic.
Q: What is VG or Vegetable Glycerin?
A: Vegetable Glycerin is a sweet, thick, vegetable based liquid. 100% VG base is very thick and hard to smoke effectively. A combined PG/VG blend is recommended. Vegetable Glycerin is non toxic.
Q: So my contact pin on my V2 will loosen, but it will only tighten up about 75% of the way, still works, no issue, but now it won’t sit flush on my devices without an adjustable pin… So does anyone know where I can get a replacement? I don’t want to send it in to get fixed, I just want to try and find a replacement piece. Thanks
A: From what the vendor told me that 510 screw is not adjustable. It does hold the positive block in position and by loosening the pin it allows the block to turn. I have been able to get away with a little loosening the screw/pin a little after installing coils, but it’s most likely not good or safe practice. If the positive block moved enough a dead short might result and that’s not good…..
Q: If there are over 60 studies of e-cigarette vapor and liquid, why do health experts say we don’t know what is in them or that they may be more dangerous than traditional cigarettes?
A: Unfortunately, we don’t have a clear answer. What we do know is that pharmaceutical companies do not like to see smokers switching to e-cigarettes instead of using pharmaceutical drugs and nicotine products. The pharmaceutical industry and its “foundations” fund a lot of anti-tobacco research and supports many of the anti-tobacco organizations and politicians that object to e-cigarettes and tobacco harm reduction policies.
Q: What is the best mechanical mod?
A: I’d never be able to say which mech mod is the best for everyone. There are just so many choices available in many different styles.
At under $200 I’m a huge fan of the Vanilla by smok-e mountain. Two copper options (SS accents/brass accents), full brass and a stainless variety that come in several sizes. I own a copper w/brass caps in 18650 and it’s a stunning performer. The copper contacts are going to require a little regular cleaning routine to keep in tip top shape, but I’m sure you’re aware of that. It’s also readily available at several reputable vendors.
Q: My mechanical mod gets really hot on the button when I fire it. It only does it sometimes though. What’s the deal here?
A: When you make a build that is a lower resistance it heats up very quickly causing your device to get hot. Also, the battery will vent and expel heat which is directed towards the bottom causing the button to get hot. Good luck!
